Take a look at the deck table:
We'll get an official measurement once the snow stops, but it looks like 30" of accumulation so far. I just finished my teleconference so I'm free for the afternoon. Free to sit inside and await the impending roof collapse, that is. The view out the other back window wasn't so promising:

And check out what wonderful weather greets those who would venture outside, first in the front:
And then the view out the back window:
I don't see how the federal government could be open tomorrow, or maybe even Friday. We were wondering aloud on the conference call whether the federal government has ever been closed for an entire week. We're smashing total seasonal snowfall records and beating levels that have stood since record keeping began.
Isn't there something wrong here? I can't wait to see the snow piles now. There was a 12 foot snow pile at the mexican restaurant we went to the other night. Now it may get to 18 feet. When I drove home from Ashland on Sunday, the exit ramps were like corridors through Alaskan glaciers. There was a lone Caterpillar working randomly between Georgia Avenue and 29. The Maryland governor just got on the TV and announced that the streets would not be plowed down to the pavement for at least 72 hours. Looks like 3 more days of cabin fever!
It's times like these that I'm glad they don't make them like they used to. Katy and I are going to move the couch under the steel I-beam in our house and wait this one out.
Later,
J
