Ghost in the machine

Switched out our thermostat in the new house from the old school one to a programmable one, and in doing so discovered all kinds of custom wiring going on with the furnace, fan, and A/C.  

Ended up just crossing live wires to figure out which wire controlled which device.

I think whoever wired the system was colorblind, but I can't fault them for that.....
