Last weekend we went camping with the parents at Sherando Lake just south of Waynesboro, VA. The first night was warm, around 67 degrees. Second night was 40 degrees. I like having the 15 degree sleeping bag. However, Katy and I still need to get a mat to make it a bit more comfy.
"Roughin' it" - had to hike inland about 10' from the cars
The campsites were great and well maintained.
Bathrooms were near and clean as well.
Nothing like lots of breakfast food on a cold morning.
On the menu here: Sausage, bacon, corn beef hash, and pancakes.
Had a really good time camping out with the parents. The stars were amazing, especially after being stuck in DC where they are all blotted out by the city lights. Even the patter of rain on the first night was nice to sleep to. Sitting around the fire, having a drink, going for a hike. It was peaceful out there, much more so than expected at a busy campsite. The place was well-patrolled by the rangers as well.
Have to go again next year, maybe again in the fall. The trees had started turning and it was good weather overall. Now back to the grind . . .
